Must Watch..Inspiring Basketball Movies!

Basketball has been central theme of many Hollywood movies. Bollywood is going to release it’s own first basketball featuring movie “4 pm on the court” starring Prashanti Singh (I wonder why didn’t Akanksha get a role in this movie?). They say that the project has already started by now and will be hopefully on screen by December of this year (that’s what Prashanti said). I have no idea how it’s going to be but the story plot describes some interesting chain of events that happen with a basketball player of the Local Club at 4pm on the basketball court when everybody in the vicinity is mystically informed about it happenings. Let’s see how it goes.
Anyways, I am up here for my top 6 List of Hollywood Basketball movies :
Number 6: Glory Road
Story of how a team leads to the glory road. lots of basketball action and nice storyline fluidly flowing throughout the movie.

Number 5: Hooked
It’s a wonderful story of a young promising basketball athlete who gets hooked to performance enhancing drugs before his first stint at NBA drafting stages. He screws up big time even before he could get through NBA. The story perfectly depicts the choices an athlete makes when he is looking instant gratification from his performances.

Number 4: The air up there
A renowned coach travels from his native state to Africa. He tries to convince Tribe’s Prince to come and play for his College team. Nicely worked script and great basketball display.

Number 3: Above the Rim
The movie’s concept is about a school athlete who wants to play and represent his university in Georgetown. I love it for the story flow and good basketball in it.

Number 2: He got Game
What a brilliant movie starring NBA Boston Celtics Player and 3 point Shooting Champion, Ray Allen with Denzel Washington! I loved this one for its sheer realistic life of a hoopster and his weak/strong times which test his character to the core. Ray Allen…HAIL!  I was indeed moved by the movie by the end of it. The passion with which he depicts the protagonist in the movie, I really admire the direction and acting too.

Number 1: Coach Carter
Just one word, Go watch it if you have not! This is the best basketball movie ever. It’s a real story of a basketball Coach Ken Carter about how he brings the integrity and builds a strong character in his pro basketball aspiring athletes. It’s about Richmond High School Basketball Team which lands up into trouble when it’s players start shining in the basketball arena as they are distracted by the glamour that comes with being a top notch team. It’s an Inspiring story for me personally from an athlete’s perspective.  Surely not to be missed by any passionate hoopster! :)

Cheers!
